Dry card compass in a wooden case with a sliding lid,

Compass Rose marked by hand I Lilljequist & Son in Gothenburg. Year 1800s (1839-1865)

Lilljequist & Son shipping company was founded by Isaac Lilljequist (1789-1852) around the year 1815.

In 1839, the son Isaac Wilhelm Liljequist became a partner,

whereby the name was changed to I Liljequist & Son.

Size of box . 14.5 x 14.5 cm Height 10cm.

The wooden box is painted black with gold decoration it has a crack in the wood on one side.

The lid is marked with a brass plaque with the marking GSSs 2nd Price 12/8 1865 .

GSS, Gothenburg Sailing Society (Today GKSS, Gothenburg Royal Sailing Society) founded in 1865.

A very fine piece.
