DRONE JACKET

  •  4.950,00 DKK

Sandwich construction of three fabrics- Majocchi polyester-cotton high tension gabardine, raw organic cotton open cell mesh, and peach finished cotton oxford. Sandwich creates quilted texture of a down jacket without the thickness or heat.
Oversized shape based on bomber jackets, shell tops, and kite panel design.
Collar snaps influenced by workwear uniforms, biker jackets, and 18th century dress coats.
“Drone” is an update of the idea of a bomber jacket, also recalling bagpipes and John Cale and Lemonte Young’s experiments with continuous drones in musical composition.
Signature overlap back seam construction is adapted from bib overalls design and the cuffs of Lee chore coats.
Garment dye fully dyes the cotton lining and sewing threads, but only dyes the cotton fibre within the intimately blended gabardine- polyester fibres remain olive green, giving the fabric a special mottled appearance similar to a covert cloth or marl jersey

For Book 01, we have made extensive use of garment dyeing processes, as found extensively in both Williams’ work on Tender and various Massimo Osti related productions, as worked on by Robert. For us, garment dyeing is the ‘birth’ of the garment - sinking thread into cloth, beginning to soften and agitate the fabric, and bringing all the separate components and materials together in a shared dye bath. It is this process of alchemy which gives the garment its character.

NANTUCKET
Strong pink colour associated with preppy seaside resorts on the East Coast of the US. Used in houses (below) and also men’s trousers and shirts. Overdyed on Majocchi olive green polyester-cotton gabardine the result is a rich mottled brown

SAGE SMUDGE
Soft green-grey from the dried leaves of the sage plant, used in European witchcraft and superstition to clean a house of bad spirits and create good energy. A bundle of dried sage leaves is called a ‘smudge’- ‘smudging’ is lighting the bundle and waving it arrive a room, sometimes chanting a spell or incantation.

BEACH TAR
A purplish-black colour inspired by the lumps of sand and tar found on beaches caused by oil spills out at sea.
