S/S Marie Danish steam cargo ship built 1910 by Antwerp Engineering Co. Ltd in Hoboken and her yard number was 48.
The owner was A/S Dampselskabet J Lauritzen.
MARIE was on a voyage in convoy from Fredrikstad to Hull with a wood cargo and 250 tons of paper pulp. At 2030 hrs MARIE was hit by a torpedo from German submarine UC-51 (Hans Galster) . 2 men were killed by the explosion. The rest of the crew were quickly picked up by the escorts. MARIE was low in the water when lost from sight.
