WEAVER'S STOCK TYPE WS420 TAIL SHIRT
Weaver’s Stock garments are made using deadstock fabrics from British weaving mills, sewn in a small factory in the Midlands.
The Weaver’s Stock Pullover Tail Shirt is a simplified version of the Mainline type 420 Tail Shirt, with no cuffs or pockets. The shirt is cut generously with full curved tails at the front and back.
Wool baize fabrics are heavily finished thick wool cloths traditionally woven for insulating and sound proofing. Doors were often covered with baize to keep out the chill, or to stop sound from servants’ quarters carrying above stairs, and the backstage ‘green room’ was so called for the green baize fabric tacked to the walls to stop sound from being heard front of house. More commonly today, baize is widely used to cover card-playing and snooker tables, for its densely woven and very flat surface.
